Along Merrick Avenue south of Sunrise Highway is the Merrick Library; nearby are a number of synagogues and churches.

The Town of Hempstead’s Merrick Road Park has basketball courts and baseball fields; the nearby golf course has nine holes. The Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve has a kayak launch into Meadow Brook, a 500-foot fishing pier on Merrick Bay and about three miles of hiking and jogging trails.
